GUWAHATI, June 2 � A meeting of Dr Jogendranarayan Bhuyan Memorial Trust Committee was held recently at its permanent office at Saneki Path, Baghorbori, Panjabari with Dr Nagen Saikia, president of the committee in the chair. The important matters discussed in the meeting were observation of 74th birth anniversary of Dr Bhuyan, essay competition and publication of works of Dr Bhuyan, a press release said.
It was decided in the meeting that the second Dr Jogendranarayan Bhuyan Memorial Lecture on �Historical and social scenario of Assam in the 19th century� would be held on October 29, commemorating the birthday of Dr Bhuyan.
It was also decided that an essay competition among the students of undergraduate and post-graduate level would be held on the topic �The role of American Baptist missionaries in development of Assamese language�. The essay should be written in Assamese within 2000 to 2500 words and submitted to the joint secretaries of the committee on or before August 31, 2012.
A threadbare discussion regarding publication of Dr Jogendranarayan Bhuyan�s literary and research works in one or two volumes, including articles, letters, etc, which are lying scattered was also held.
Dhirendra Nath Chakravartty, Bhadra Bora, Dr Alpana Sarkar Deka, Dal Bahadur Chetri, Mahendra Nath Bora, Shankar Prasad Kakati Bora, Adity Barua, Puspendra Bora, Binayak Bhuyan, Madhan Bhuyan, among others, were present in the meeting.
