Dr Gohain vents ire on media

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, June 23 Sanmilita Jatiya Abhibartan (SJA) leader Dr Hiren Gohain today gave vent to his ire on the national media for its poor coverage of the ULFA peace process.

Addressing the media outside 10 Jan Path, official residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Dr Gohain singled out the national media and asked them whether they were going to give due coverage to the issue at all. The SJA delegation is apparently peeved at the lack of media coverage in the national media.

At the press meet we spoke for over two hours and not a single paper has mentioned it. You people should understand that this is something that concerns the whole of Assam, something that we represent and it has not been covered by the national press, he grumbled.

This means that the information on which the government acts, is restricted by the media and on the basis of the restricted media coverage they take a decision. There is every likelihood of error. That is why I think the national media should review its policy towards news from the North-east, he added.
