Dr BR Bhuyan felicitated

GUWAHATI, Oct 25 - Dental Pioneers of North East, a newly formed organisation, recently held a programme at the NEDFi House here to felicitate Dr BR Bhuyan, founder of the Regional Dental College, stated a press release.

Dr Bhuyan completed his MBBS degree from the Assam Medical College in 1963. After serving for a couple of years in the Gauhati Medical College, he did his post-graduation in dentistry. After his post-graduation, he served the Gauhati Medical College for about 19 years in different capacities. During that period, Dr Bhuyan planned to start a dental institution with a view to producing qualified dental manpower to serve the region and providing opportunity for self-employment to the young generation.

Later, Dr Bhuyan approached the North Eastern Council, who agreed to finance the proposed institution and the college started functioning from October 1, 1982.

The felicitation programme was attended by Kanak Sen Deka, former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha and Prof Ramesh Ch Deka, among others.
