GUWAHATI, March 7 � The Gaura Purnima/Doul Utsav celebrations organized by Hare Krishna Movement, Guwahati, at GS Road Christian Basti area of the city on March 5 drew people from various walks of life. The event marked the appearance of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the most munificent incarnation of Lord Sri Krishna, a press release said.
The programme started at 4 pm with the rendering of soulful sankirtan by devotees, followed by bhajan performances. Thereafter, Maha-Abhishekham was performed to Their Lordships, followed by the abhishekam, special arati, and pallaki utsav, which was attended by thousands of devotees. A special video presentation was also made to highlight the significance of the occasion. The Sattvic Food Festival held alongside the main programme was also a crowd-puller, where special Rajasthani and Punjabi delicacies were served. The diet combines the wisdom of the Vedas, with the flair of modern day cooking to create signature sattvic meals, the release said.
