Doomdooma still tense, main accused held

DOOMDOOMA, Sept 15 - With a fresh group clash reported from Sookreting near here late last night, the situation in this tea town continues to be tense for the second day today.

A 19-year-old girl was seriously injured in the group clash that also saw two other ladies receiving minor injuries. The clash erupted over blaring loudspeakers at a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. In another incident today, a group of people set ablaze a slaughter house at Doidam Tea Estate of Borhapjan near here.

Police arrested one Md Aziz alias Mulla, the main accused of the Borhapjan incident yesterday, who posted inflammatory remarks on social media. Police also arrested Md Habibullah, Md Sabbir Hussain and Md Narshim from Doomdooma for their involvement in the group clash at Dr Rajendra Prasad Sarani yesterday.

Meanwhile, the 24-hour Tinsukia district bandh called by several organisations was total in the Doomdooma circle today.
