Dont politicize Jihadi issue, warns AASU

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 30 The All Assam Students Union (AASU) today issued a stern warning to all concerned not to politicize and communalize the Jihadi/Al-Qaeda issue.

However, in a statement here, the students body has reiterated its demand to uproot the Jihadis, including the Al-Qaeda and the illegal Bangladeshi migrants from Assam. It has demanded of the State as well as the Central Government effective steps into this regard.

It alleged that the soft attitude of the State Government led by Tarun Gogoi towards Bangladesh has been facilitating imperious behaviour of the illegal Bangla migrants in Assam. Besides, the activities of the Jihadi groups like the Al-Qaeda have also been growing here because of this factor.

The legislators of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) were seen making efforts to shield the fundamentalists. Now the chief of this party, Badruddin Ajmal is reported to have been helping the Jihadis. This allegation should be probed through a high-level inquiry and stern legal actions must be taken to curb all such activities, said the students body.
