DoNER to take up air safety issue in NE

NEW DELHI. May 9 � The Minister in charge of Department for Development of North Eastern Region (DONER), BK Handique has convened a meeting of the officials of civil aviation sector tomorrow to discuss safety of air services in North East and possible alternative arrangements for Arunachal Pradesh in the wake of suspension of operations by Pawan Hans following the death of Arunachal Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu in a chopper crash.

Official sources said that the meeting, to be chaired by Handique, would be attended by officials of the DG Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India and MD of Pawan Hans.

Meanwhile, Handique has written a letter to the Civil Aviation Minister asking him to arrange for special flights to Tezpur ad Lilabari. In his letter he also said that there was tremendous resentment against Pawan Hans in the region.
