DoNER Secy reviews Central projects

ITANAGAR, April 25 - Secretary to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr Inder Jit Singh has reviewed the status of various projects funded by the Centre under the North Eastern Council (NEC), Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) and North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), in Arunachal Pradesh.

An official release here said that the DoNER Secretary reviewed the status of projects in a meeting held at the Chief Secretary�s conference hall at the State Civil Secretariat here on Wednesday.

Singh urged senior officers of the State Government to strengthen and bring qualitative improvements in project implementation and monitoring mechanism by avoiding cost over-runs and time over-runs.

Leading the �Mission DoNER at your doorstep�, the DoNER Secretary, who was accompanied by Joint Secretaries JK Sinha and Saurabh Endley, and Director Umesh Kumar, also reviewed the implementation status of livelihood programmes in the State as well as the progress of implementation of various programmes in the aspirational district, Namsai.

Earlier, State Chief Secretary Satya Gopal gave a detailed status report of the various ongoing projects under the NEC, NLCPR and NESIDS in the State.

Gopal also highlighted some practical issues for consideration by the DoNER Ministry. He further requested the visiting DoNER officials to increase fund allocation, especially in water supply, education, health and connectivity sectors.

Senior State Government officers, including Principal Secretary Dr AC Verma, Planning Secretary NT Glow, Commissioners Bilatee Pertin and Marnya Ete, Secretaries, chief engineers and directors of various State Government departments were present in the meeting.
