DLW bag volleyball title

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 13 � Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Benaras, clinched the 10th Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup Volleyball Championship defeating South Western Railway (Karnataka) 3-1 in the final match of the championship which was played at Kokrajhar District Sports Associations playground.

Omvir of DLW bagged the best player trophy of the tournament along with Rs 5000 and the trophy was given away by Janamohan Mushahary, Chairman of Ex-BLT Welfare Society.

Local MLA Pramila Rani Brahma handed over the champions trophy alongwith Rs 50,000 to the winning team while Loben Basumatary, MCLA handed over the runners-up trophy and case prize of Rs 25,000.

It may be mentioned here that a souvenir was also released on the occasion of the prize distribution ceremony. Altogether six teams from outside the State joined the championship, which started day before yesterday. The teams ware DLW (Benaras), East Coach Railway (Visakapattanam), NVST (Hyderabad), Central Railway (Nagpur), South Western Railway (Karnataka) and Patna Six.

Mono Kumar Brahma, Executive Member of BTC and chairman of the organizing committee of the championship Berlao Karzi, Principal Law Collage, Kokrajhar attended the ceremonial prize distribution function.

The tournament was organised by the Ex-BLT Welfare Society in association with Kokrajhar District Sports Association.
