GUWAHATI, Aug 9 - Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal today directed all higher education institutes of the district to celebrate the upcoming Independence Day with a three-day schedule.
According to a statement issued by the district administration, on August 13 a competition on patriotic songs in solo and group categories along with a poster competition on the topic �Swacchata� will be held among students at every institution. On August 14 a quiz competition on the freedom movement will be held at every institution.
DC Mittal has also directed all higher educational institutions to submit a report about the celebration by August 17 at his office.
At a meeting with representatives from 12 higher education institutions of Guwahati today, the DC also stressed holding awareness programmes on topics like road safety, time management and �Beti Bachao Beti Padhao� from time to time in their institutions.
