By Correspondent

MANGALDAI, May 30 The process of distribution and receipt of application forms in the second phase of the ongoing NRC update project began in Darrang district on Friday when Parliamentary Secretary and MLA, Dalgaon, Ilias Ali, ceremonially handed over the receipt of the completed application form submitted by one Nitya Ranjan Patowary amid a district- level training programme held at the district library auditorium here.

Addressing the trainees comprising LRCRs, ALRCRs and operators engaged in 80 NRC Seva Kendras (NSK) surrounding the district, Ilias Ali raised a serious allegation against the Panchayat Secretaries who have been designated as the ALRCR of neglecting their responsibilities by remaining absent from their offices and delegating their duties to their office subordinates such as NSK operators or JRS staff. In an immediate reaction to the open allegation levelled by the Parliamentary Secretary, Deputy Commissioner, Darrang, Manoj Kumar cautioned all the officials engaged of stern action if allegation of negligence of duty of any of the officials is proved. Moreover, he clearly pointed out that no official could move away from NSKs until and unless he receives any instruction through mobile SMS from their departmental district heads.

Meanwhile, referring to the first phase of the NRC process dealing with the legacy data, the Deputy Commissioner, informed that the district has recorded around 1.2 lakh legacy data slips issued till date and hoped that each NSK would receive 80 applications a day and thus the district which has a total of about 2 lakh households will be able to complete the process within the stipulated time frame of July next. The programme included discussions by Hitesh Dev Sarma, Executive Director, NRC, State Unit-cum Joint Secretary, State Home and Political Department, supported by power point presentation on efficient functioning of the application receipt process with a helping and positive attitude towards the applicants.
