By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, April 10 The different Bihu committees and the men in khaki will have to adhere to some directives issued by the district administration, Kamrup (Metro) to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience to all the citizens during the festive season.

The Bihu committees must ensure complete safety of all visitors from the temporary structures, electrical fittings etc and cooperate with the administration in implementing all guidelines regarding safety and security.

The committees must appoint sufficient volunteers, keep a medical team ready, and ban alcohol and drugs from their venues. The committees have also been instructed to discourage forceful collection of donation and to submit list of all office bearers and volunteers to the nearest police station well in advance. The local police stations must be informed in advance of all the programmes as well.

The committees will also have to follow the rules of loudspeaker use and noise pollution as per guidelines issued by the Supreme Court.

The committees cannot deface any public wall or property with posters or banners, cannot set up pandals on any public thoroughfare, should not allow parking within 100 metres of the pandals.

Loudspeakers beyond 10 pm should not be used by the committees. The committees will have to leave the area clean after the function is over.
