Discovery Science joins hands with IIT-G

GUWAHATI, Aug 29 � Discovery Science, India�s only channel dedicated to making science programming accessible, has associated with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Guwahati, for their annual Techno-Management Festival � �Techniche 2012�.

The association involves organising special screenings of the �best science show on television�, �Mythbusters� from August 31 to September 2 at the IIT-Guwahati auditorium during Techniche 2012.

This will be preceded by a unique contest to tap young inquisitive minds and uncover the truth behind popular myths and legends. The contestants will be faced with quirky and investigative questions such as � can you make a candle out of earwax? Can you touch molten lead without burning your skin?�, Can a tree be cut down using a machine gun?, and many more.

Hundreds of participants including IITians and professors are expected to be present each day for the special screening and contest. Rahul Johri,�senior vice president and general manager, South Asia, Discovery Networks, Asia-Pacific,�said, �Discovery Science�s endeavour is to make science accessible, relevant and entertaining for the viewers. �Mythbusters� uncovers the truth behind popular tall tales and urban legends using the trademark quirky, action-packed and often unconventional methods.� To determine whether a myth is busted, plausible or confirmed, hosts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, along with Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara, devise a multitude of scientific experiments that often use themselves � or crash-test dummy �Buster� � as they test subjects.� The results are often surprising � and explosive.
