Disclosure of assets by Ministers a farce: BJP

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 17 The State BJP today alleged that the disclosure of assets by State Council of Ministers in the government website is a farce and the assets declared by the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi himself are grossly undervalued.

In a statement issue today, the State spokesperson of the BJP Pradip Thakuria said that the description of movable and immovable assets by the Chief Minister proves that the charges of corruption against him are not baseless.

On the day of Uruka, when the State was busy in merrymaking, the Congress ministers disclosed their assets to cheat the people of the State. Even the format of the statement of affairs is not uniform and it is certainly not intelligible to the laymen, the statement mentioned.

The ministers have declared about their assets as per their sweet will where no standard format has been used. Even the totals of their property have not been clearly worked out. When a common man files his income tax return he has to follow the instructions of the Form 16. But, no such rule applies, when a minister gives the account of his asset to the public, the statement added.
