GUWAHATI, Dec 30 � The Tea Board of India in its board meeting held yesterday at Kunnur, Kerala decided to put up the headquarters of its proposed directorate for small tea growers at Dibrugarh in Upper Assam.
Sources in the Tea Board told this newspaper that the board meeting also decided to shift the Guwahati office of the Tea Board Executive Director to Jorhat in Upper Assam to make the office more effective.
The tea industry of the State has been demanding for quite a long time to set up a a directorate for the small tea growers and to place its headquarters in Assam to successfully take care of the problems facing the small tea growers.
