GUWAHATI, Oct 19 � Information and Public Relations Minister Basanta Das has directed the Public Works Department and the Directorate of Information and Public Relations to expedite completion of the next phase of work of the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Photo and Film Archive and Research Centre.

According to an official press release here, the Minister also asked both the departments to float national-level tenders for engaging consultation firms to execute the project of the Centre. The minister�s directive came at the meeting of the governing body of the centre here.

The members of the governing body laid stress on reflecting the culture and indigenous styles of Assam at the centre. The meeting discussed the issue of raising a corpus fund for the proper management of the centre. The members also suggested initiation of the process for designing a logo for the centre.

The Revenue Department and the Kamrup district administration have handed over a plot of 15 bighas of land under Dag 70 of Kanipahar village of Sila Sendurighopa Mouza of Amingaon to the Directorate of Information and Public Relations. A house has also been hired to take care of the execution of the preliminary works of the project, the press release said.
