DIPR discusses Govt advertisement issues with media houses

GUWAHATI, Nov 30 - Director of Information and Public Relations Rajib Prakash Baruah on Wednesday held a meeting with the representatives of various media houses of the State to discuss various issues, problems and solutions pertaining to government advertisements, in the conference hall of Raijor Batori at Hatigaon here.

Chairing the meeting Baruah said that the discussion would go a long way in identifying and resolving various issues and problems faced on and off in respect of government advertisements both by the directorate as well as the media houses.

The representatives of the media houses present at the meeting discussed at length the issues and problems pertaining to allotment of advertisements, submission and payments of advertisement bills etc.

The Director assured of resolving the issues and problems regarding government advertisements expeditiously. In this line, he proposed holding a meeting with the Media Advisor to the Chief Minister and the Additional Chief Secretary, Information & Public Relations Department tentatively in December.

Baruah informed that the release orders (ROs) would be issued on the same day. He also informed that the department is taking an initiative for online issue of ROs in the line of DAVP, but, for the time-being the ROs would be issued through email. �For timely publication of advertisements, necessary communication will be made with government departments to provide soft copies of the advertisements so that the same can be sent to the media house(s) through email,� he added. He also called on the representatives of the media houses to ensure timely submission of advertisement bills incorporating applicable GST.

The Director further called upon the representatives of the media houses present at the meeting to contact him directly to discuss any important matter pertaining to advertisement.

The meeting was also attended by Editor of Raijor Batori Bhupendra Nath Bhattacharjee, Additional Director and Branch Officer of Advertisement Branch Pradeep Brahma besides 40 representatives from various media houses and other officers and staff of the directorate.
