DIPHU, Aug 24 - The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) with massive funding from the Assam Government and the Government of India has embarked upon infrastructural development of both the rural and urban areas.
As promised by Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Council Tuliram Ronghang, roads and drainage system of Diphu town, the official headquarter of Karbi Anglong autonomous district are being refurbished for which large-scale eviction has been carried out. Major roads within the market areas have been provided with covered drains and tiled footpath with metal balustrades.
Separators have been erected to help vehicular traffic from both directions of the streets pass effortlessly. Till now around eight kilometers of road construction have been completed.
The authority has already begun putting up solar streetlights on both sides of the roads and in public places. The whole gigantic task is indeed facing challenges from nature particularly at this time during the peak rainy season. However, the implementing agencies are relentlessly pushing forward in their task.
The newly-built multipurpose sports complex at the heart of the town is slowly getting the concluding touches. But development of the peripheral points like the circular road, parking areas, street markets and dedicated inns is still awaited. If all goes well it can be expected that tiny hilly town of Diphu will become a smart municipality within the first half of 2019.
