Diocesan Society celebrates silver jubilee

GUWAHATI, Nov 23 � To commemorate the completion of its 25 years, North East Diocesan Social Service Society (NEDSSS), the social wing of the Regional Bishops� Council of North East India of the institution, organised a two-day event as part of its silver jubilee celebration on November 21 and 22.

The invitees included those who are closely associated with the organisation as supporters, beneficiaries, donors, collaborators, benefactors and friends. The programme saw Justice Cyriac Joseph, former Supreme Court judge and member of the Human Rights Commission as its chief guest, besides a host of dignitaries, a press release said. The first day of the celebration marked the flag hoisting by Dr M Angamuthu, Deputy Commissioner Kamrup (Metro).

A workshop on �Way Forward Plan �Vision 2025� for the region also was organised. Speeches by the invited luminaries and a cultural evening were the special highlights of the programme. The chief guest for the cultural event was Rev Most Dominic Lumon, Archbishop of Imphal.

The second day featured an �Eucharistic Celebration� officiated by Archbishop Dominc Jala, president of the North East Bishops� Council followed by a public function. Major highlights of the day were the release of the jubilee souvenir The March of Seven Sisters by Archbishop Dominic Jala, Human Rights Manual by Justice Cyriac Joseph and The Silver Milestones � a history of NEDSSS by Archbishop Dominic Lumon, Imphal.
