HAFLONG, Jan 8 � The Deputy Commissioner as well as District Magistrate of Dima Hasao district, Barun Bhuyan has fixed February 6 for the final hearing and February 4 for joint verification by NF Railway, Revenue Department and the members of the Affected People Rehabilitation Committee in his court in connection with the payment of compensation to the affected people of 14 villages of Dautuhaja area even as the NF Railway appealed for an adjournment today on security grounds.
On December 11, Bhuyan had instructed the NF Railway to clear the payment of compensation to all the affected people of 14 villages of Dautuhaja area after joint verification within one month.
At least 245 families of 14 villages of Daotuhaja were affected due to BG conversion. They had approached the High Court as the NF Railway was allegedly delaying the process of paying compensation on several pretexts.
The Deputy Commissioner told this correspondent said �the Railway authority has appealed for adjournment on security grounds. I have also directed the Superintendent of Police to provide security as sought for and fixed February 4 for joint verification by NF Railway, Revenue Department and the affected people and February 6 for the final hearing.�
The affected people hoped that this time the Deputy Commissioner would solve the genuine and long-standing grievances of the people of Dautuhaja in Dima Hasao. They also appreciated the efforts of the Deputy Commissioner as he had stood for the cause of the people of Dima Hasao.
