HAFLONG, March 14 - With a fervent appeal for immediate repair of roads like Phasi-Garampani-Haflong (PGH) Road, Silchar-Shillong (SS) Road connecting Mahur area, Kejurband-Koladisa (KK) Road, Langting-Longren-Wajao road connecting K-K Road, Maibang-Semkhor Road, Diyungbra-Noyapur- Manderdisa connecting Mahasadak at Manderdisa point, Langting-Thaijuwari road via Grayung and Phalaipha Hadi polling station with construction of bridge over Diyung river, Dehangi-Diyungbra (DD) Road, among others, in Dima Hasao district, the Dima Hasao Contractors� Association submitted a memorandum to the State PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya recently.
The memorandum signed by Jayanta Nunisa, president, Dima Hasao Contractors� Association, along with others, maintained that an early move to renovate the aforesaid roads in Dima Hasao district in greater interest of the general public will do a lot for promotion of rural economy, which was very much required.
Rural economy can be boosted through proper road communication, which encourages farmers to sell their agricultural products in different weekly markets of the district, the memorandum said and added that it also helps in providing services in the fields of health, education and others.
Due to deplorable road condition in between Haflong and Dehangi, mainly in Lower Haflong Power Grid area near Diyung river bridge, Junu Nala, near Gurunari and Polytechnic Institute�s building construction area, service providers like Network Night Super Bus and others have already stopped plying their vehicles.
Moreover, renovation and repair works of some roads are progressing very slowly. These works need to be completed before the onset of the rainy season.
