By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, Nov 24 - The outgoing Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dibrugarh, Rana Bhuyan, on Monday acknowledged the constructive role of the local media fraternity during the recent instances of communal flare-ups in the district, admitting that the media played a big role in dousing the tension and promoting communal harmony post-conflict.

SP Rana Bhuyan, while addressing the media over a cup of tea at the Police Guest House here, thanked all media personnel for their cooperation with the police in maintaining law and order in the district. It would not have been possible for the administration to bring the situation under control without the help of the media during the recent communal conflicts, he said. The local media fraternity had exuded due caution, intelligence and restraint in reporting the incidents during the crisis.

The media persons too thanked the outgoing police officer for attending to their phone calls from wherever he was as also responding instantly to the caller if he had missed a call. He called upon the media to exude same responsibility in the future.
