Dibrugarh set for Autonomous Council polls

DIBRUGARH, Jan 18 - Altogether 34 candidates are in the fray for the elections to the 11 constituencies of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council and three candidates are vying for one constituency of the Mising Autonomous Council in the district. The elections to the autonomous councils are slated for January 21 in the district.

Polling for the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council will be held in 122 polling stations. Altogether 63618 voters including 31932 female voters will cast their votes in the polls. Out of the 122 polling stations, some 41 polling stations have been identified as sensitive and some 10 are identified as hyper-sensitive.

Similarly, polling for one constituency (Dehing Sessa) of the Mising Autonomous Council in the district will be held in 12 polling stations. Some 6904 voters will cast their votes in this constituency. Out of the 12 polling stations, four polling stations have been identified as sensitive and two as hyper-sensitive.

Meanwhile, the administration has already appointed the sector and zonal officers and also conducted the training for the presiding officer and the polling officers.
