Dibrugarh pump selling adulterated fuel?

By Our Bureau

DIBRUGARH, May 24 - The fuel refilling station at Seujpur here, commonly called the Baruah Petrol Pump, supplies diesel and petrol to the police here.

The pump is also one of the places which registers high daily fuel sales. However, there are often complaints that diesel and petrol sold there is adulterated on many occasions, while there are also allegations of customers being supplied less quantities by fiddling with the dispensing units.

A businessman here told this newspaper that his Hyundai i-10 and the premium Santa Fe vehicles had to be sent for expensive repairs after being fuelled up at the above Baruah Petrol Pump.

However, the businessman said this was sometime ago. A police official said they do come across complaints of adulterated fuel from the pump, and that on each occasion the owner is given a warning.

There is a public demand here that the IOC should regularly check fuel quality at all IOC fuel pumps in the city to ensure that customers are guaranteed both quality and quantity of petrol and diesel purchased.

IOC has been accused of hobnobbing with fuel adulterators in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts, given the rising incidence of customer grievances remaining unheard. Customers are by and large satisfied at the pumps of other vendors like HP, IBP, NRL and Essar.
