Dibrugarh, Nagaon in control

GUWAHATI, March 27 � Dibrugarh and Nagaon are in command in the Nuruddin Trophy Elite Group Senior Inter District semifinal round robin league matches.

At the Nehru Stadium here, Dibrugarh scored 362 for eight in 90 overs in their first innings against Charaideo while at the Barsapara stadium, in reply to Guwahati�s first innings total of 162, Nagaon were 108 for three.

Electing to bat first, Dibrugarh gathered a healthy total on the opening day of the three-day match. A 169-ball 164 by Jyotiraditya Chetia and 77 by Bastab Hazarika enabled Dibrugarh in reaching a commendable total. Jyotiraditya�s quickfire knock was studded with 21 boundaries and three sixers.

At the Barsapara ground, experienced Dhiraj Goswami ripped through the Guwahati innings with a five-wicket haul. For Guwahati only consolation was a century by Sujay Tarafdar (100, 107 balls, 4x14, 6x2).

In reply Nagaon began with a positive note and were in a comfortable position at stumps. Ashok Saini (35) and Debojit Baruah (25) were the leading contributors for Nagaon.
