Dibrugarh, Nagaon in comfort zone

GUWAHATI, March 28 � Dibrugarh and Nagaon have tightened the grips against their opponents Charaideo and Guwahati respectively in the semifinal round robin league matches of the Nuruddin Trophy Elite Group Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament.

Nagaon has taken 117-run first innings lead against Guwahati while Charaideo are tittering at 197 for six in their first innings in reply to Dibrugarh�s 424.

Nagaon, resuming their first innings at the overnight total of 108 for three, were all out for 279. At stumps, Guwahati were 86 for two on the second day of the three-day match. Ashok Saini (57) and Dhiraj Goswami (53) cracked half centuries for Nagaon which virtually helped their team a commendable first innings lead.

Dibrugarh, 362 for eight overnight, continued their fine form and the tail enders batted with determination to cross the 400 mark. Amit Boro (51) and Suraj Chaturvedi (49) showed their temperament at the bottom order. Chasing the big total, the Charaideo batsmen, barring Sanjib Dutta (110,173 balls, 4x21), could not show much courage and tumbled to the disciplined Dibrugarh bowling.
