DIBRUGARH, Oct 7 - A new executive committee of the Dibrugarh Art Players� Society, more common here as DAP, was elected recently. The new committee, which will officiate for the next two years, has Dr Prakash Baruah as president and Abani Sarmah as general secretary.
It needs to be mentioned here that the DAP committee has always been nominated at general meetings. In its 130 years of existence, this is the first time that an election had to be held. The other office-bearers of the executive committee are Ranjana Sarmah Bordoloi and Dipti Gogoi (vice presidents), Lucky Changkakoty (cultural secretary), Dr Uttara Duarah and Nilom Baruah (assistant secretaries), Dipom Baruah (stage secretary), Naren Pradhan (club secretary), Gaman Chandra Borah (equipment secretary), Anil Dowerah (auditorium secretary) and Kamal Prasad Das (treasurer). The other members are Dr Runuma Sarmah, Poran Bokul Baruah and Durga Borthakur.
The DAP Society maintains the Amolapatty Natya Mandir, which is a heritage cultural institution of the State.
