GUWAHATI, Nov 19 Highway patrolling in Kamrup (Rural) district is going to get a boost with the Assam Polices Dial 100 project being extended from Guwahati to Kamrup district.
Already active in Guwahati, the GIS/GPS-enabled system will encompass 11 police stations in Kamrup district, in addition to those in Kamrup (Metro).
Since the introduction of Dial 100 project, the average response time of City Police to any incident has improved to about 15 minutes.
Superintendent of Police (Kamrup) Indrani Baruah told The Assam Tribune the project would help in reducing the response time in the event of any mishap or untoward incident. She said the system has been already put in place in the district.
Official sources, however, informed that the official launch of the project in Kamrup district is tentatively scheduled for next week.
Till date, Kamrup is the only district where the Dial 100 project has been extended.
