Dhakuakhana College conducts e-mail drive

GUWAHATI, March 7 - An �e-mail drive programme for Degree students: a mission towards digital India� was organized on March 6 by the Central Library, Dhakuakhana College where more than 250 email IDs were created using the gmail account, a press release stated .

The accounts were created with the help of the students and the library staff of the college. Further, 200 students already having the email id have registered their email id in the library. This drive will continue until all students get registered with an email id. Dr JN Sut, Principal of the College expects that such an initiative will help the students basically in the rural region to minimise the digital divide. Dr Sut also highlighted the power of technology for the greater benefit of the students if it is utilised properly. Birender Pal, Librarian of the College said that it will help the students to get registered in the National Digital Library of India-IIT Kharagpur (NDL), an advanced library service for the student community, the release stated.
