BARPETA, June 10 - The development and welfare schemes of both the Central and State Government were highlighted here today when the district administration in association with Oil India Limited organised a public meeting titled Development of all development with all.

Addressing the meeting State Irrigation Minister Ranjit Dutta announced that about thirty lakh hectare of agricultural land is to be irrigated under the PMKSY. He informed that the Centre has agreed to provide an amount of Rs eight thousand crore to the State under this project.

Giving details of this scheme Dutta told that there is enough groundwater in Assam for installing deep tube well for irrigation. The government has planned to install at least 500 deep tube wells in each Assembly constituency with a capacity of 7.5 HP each and it will run with the help of solar power. Each pump can supply water to minimum 10 hectare of land, he said.

Referring to the management of the wells he said that a committee will be formed to manage each tube well and they will have to open a bank account. The committee will levy a meagre charge from the users which will be deposited in the bank account. The responsibility of repairing all minor defects of the pump will be vested on the committee while the government will be responsible for the major problems.

The BJP leader claimed that the development of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the right direction and he urged the people to co operate in achieving cent per cent development. He also requested the people to avail the benefit so that every scheme introduced by the government becomes fruitful.

State president of the BJP Ranjit Kumar Das requested the party workers to dedicate themselves for the welfare of others. He reminded that the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has adopted zero tolerance towards corruption.
