Development of Dibrugarh town demanded

GUWAHATI, Oct 3 - The members of Policy Group for Peoples� Rights (PGPR), Dibrugarh met Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, Governor of Assam at Dibrugarh University on September 30, and placed before him various appeals for the development of Dibrugarh town, stated Dr Aradhana Kataki, president of Policy Group for Peoples� Rights (PGPR), Dibrugarh, in a press release received here.

The PGPR sought his intervention in the matter of mitigating the waterlogging problem of Dibrugarh, which has been causing untold suffering for the residents of the town since 2008. An appeal was also placed him for restoring the Dr John Berry White medical school building and establishing Dr John Berry White memorial museum in Dibrugarh for which PGPR has been campaigning since 2009. Also included in the appeal was a plea to initiate steps to develop the river front of Dibrugarh town and build up Dibrugarh as a tourist destination.
