Detailed plan to regulate traffic during Puja

GUWAHATI, Sept 30 � The Guwahati Traffic Police has prepared a detailed plan to regulate vehicular movement during the Durga Puja from October 3 to 6. The traffic management plan has been made with an eye on public safety, and also to ensure that traffic flow is not affected on arterial routes.

In a press conference held in the city today, City SP (Traffic) Bibekananda Das said, there will be restrictions on goods carrying vehicles, which will not be allowed to enter the city from I pm to 3 am. Goods carrying �heavy trucks� will be allowed into the city from 3 am onward to 10 am provided there is no obstruction on the road due to Puja.

However, trucks plying to and from the BG Yard, Noonmati, and FCI warehouses can operate between 3 am to 12 noon via Sixmile, Khanapara, and Express Highway.

Under the jurisdiction of Dispur Police Station, Dr RP Road will be one way only from Ganesh Mandir side. There will be no-entry for vehicles from the Zoo Road side to Ganesh Mandir, vehicles will move via service road, GS Road, and Supermarket point.

In the Paltan Bazar area, there will be no entry from Nepali Mandir side towards Sarabbhati.

Pan Bazar too will see route restrictions with no entry on MS Road from Sani Mandir side. There will be no entry on Dr JC Das Road from Khoobchand point.

To ensure smooth flow of traffic in Maligaon and Pandu, there will be no entry towards Pandu from Maligaon intersection. Entry will be possible from Adamari Tinali only.

Under Bharalumukh Police Station, there will be no entry towards RK Choudhury Road and SC Road from Kumarpara Pachali and Fatasil Ambari.

In the Basistha PS area, there will be no entry on Beltola Joyanagar Road from Joyanagar Chariali to Beltola Chariali. Joyanagar Beltola Chariali Road will be one-way from Beltola Chariali side.

Bhetapara Chariali �Beltola Chariali Road will be one-way from Beltola Chariali side.

The city buses for Route Number 1, 8 and 19 will ply from Adabari, Jalukbari and Pandu side to Basistha, Hengerabari and Panjabari via Kachari-Latasil-Barowari-Guwahati Club-Silpukhuri-Chandmari flyover-Zoo Road-Ganeshguri service route-Super Market Point.

The buses for route 1 and 8 will go directly via GS Road. The buses of route number 1 will go to Basistha via Khanapara Rotary and buses of route number 8 will take left turn from Six Mile point.

The buses of route number 19 will go to Hengrabari through the service road of Ganeshguri flyover. On return journey, all these buses will ply through Ganeshguri flyover-Bhangagarh-Bharalu Bridge � Sarabbhati-Nepali Mandir, Pan Bazar flyover-watertank-MG Road to Adabari.

Buses on Route number 10, 12, 22, 4, 6 and 17 19B, and 13 will also be modified.

City buses of route number 6A, 15, 16, 18, 24 and 25 will run on their designated routes as usual.

Restrictions on slow moving vehicles will be imposed from 2 pm till 2 am on certain routes.
