Deputy Speaker assures to stay close

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, June 6 - Dilip Kumar Paul, the Silchar legislator, who is now the Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, assured that he would remain close to his electors, despite his constitutional restrictions.

In his first visit to Silchar after assuming the office, Paul addressed a number of rallies on Monday and was given a warm reception by the people and members of the BJP district unit. Speaking to the people in a brief function at the district BJP office, Paul thanked the voters saying, I am overwhelmed by the blessings and I assure you that I shall never be out of your reach. The responsibilities have been doubled but as a dedicated soldier, I shall devote my services towards reconstructing Assam for a better future under the leadership of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Later, talking to the mediapersons, Paul admitted that reaching this position was beyond his imagination and admitted that he doesnt harbour hopes to stay in the electoral politics for a very long time. Never in my dreams had I thought to reach up to this level. It is because of the trust and love bestowed by the people of Silchar and also the hard work of the BJP party members and workers, I am able to attain this height. I dedicate the success to them. There is a huge scope to work for the development of Assam and also for Barak Valley, Paul said.

He added that the Government is committed towards its promise regarding NRC and the process will be wrapped up at the earliest.
