DIBRUGARH, Nov 8 � At an emergency executive council meeting held at Dibrugarh University today, the authorities christened the Centre for Performing Arts after the name of Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
�The centre offering degree and post-graduate courses in music, dance and drama will be called Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Performing Arts,� Dr K K Deka, the Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University informed this newspaper. He said the executive council took the decison as a mark of respect for the great musician.
Earlier, students, faculty members, non-teaching staff and members of the administration of the university paid tribute to the iconic singer, composer and musician by offering flowers at his portrait at the administrative building.
