SILCHAR, April 3 - A day after Darul Uloom Deoband issued a diktat asking Muslims not to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai, national president of Jamaat-Ulama-e-Hind, Moulana Suhaib Quasimi remarked that in a democratic country, every citizen has the right to hail his/her motherland. Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Hindustan Zindabad are same and therefore legitimate. Quasimi was at Puran Bazar at Banskandi under Lakhipur LAC to campaign for BJP candidate Thoiba Singh.

Addressing a rally, Quasimi said such diktats are dished out before elections only to divert the attention of the Muslims for political gain. He therefore urged Darul Uloom Deoband to withdraw the diktat.
