The student leaders present in the meeting like Gunajyoti Pathak, Pranjal Deka, Hitesh Barman, Bhaskardeep Barman and Hrishikesh Sarma in their speech recalled that Tihu subdivision was the fruition of a 40-year-long democratic agitation of the people of Tihu area and the sacrifice of Himanshu Tamuli, an AASU worker who was killed on July 17, 2015 during the agitational programme. They warned the government and the local MLA to clarify their stand in this regard. Otherwise, they warned that will begin a democratic second phase of stir from March 19.

They also demanded that the State government take proper initiative for the revival of all the industries of Nalbari district.

On the other hand, the student organization welcomed the decision of the government for declaring the area from Guwahati to Tihu as an agricultural corridor.

Northeast Mega Food Park: The Tihu Anchalik Students Union staged a sit-in demonstration on March 14 from 10 am to 1 pm in front of the mega food park situated at Nathkuchi under Tihu subdivision demanding immediate proper functioning of the food park.

A good number of students of the Tihu Anchalik Students Union along with the members of the Tihu Senior Citizen Sanmilan, Nathkuchi Gaon Unnayan Samittee and local people joined the programme and shouted slogans against the apathetic attitude towards the industry since 2015.

The president and the secretary of the Tihu Anchalik Students Union, Hitesh Barman and Bhaskardeep Barman criticized the State government and mentioned that this mega food park was formally inaugurated here in 2015 by Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Minister for Food Processing, Government of India in presence of Tarun Gogoi, the then Chief Minister of Assam, Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home, Government of India and Naba Kumar Sarania, MP, Kokrajhar aiming to earn Rs 500 crore annually with the entries of 27 companies in order to develop the Agriculture and Industry sector of North east India. But it is a matter of serious concern that at present only one industry is functioning.

Demanding the installation of more industries in the food park and seeking 100% employment of local youths, the student body in the presence of Gunajyoti Pathak, president, Nalbari district Students Union and Hiren Bhattacharjya, adviser of Tihu Anchalik Students Union submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Industry Minister of Assam through the Subdivisional Officer of Tihu subdivision.
