BAIHATA CHARIALI, April 19 � The public of Baihata Chariali have expressed strong resentment over non-construction of the bypass road stretch at Nagaon village connecting National Highway-31 for a long time, which has been creating a lot of trouble to the regular commuters.
Though the four-lane highway construction company has been constructing the road, but in the connection point of the bypass road, a number of big pot-holes have developed, thus posing danger to the general commuters.
The macadamized portion of the road has totally disintegrated, for which a number of road accidents have occurred during the last few years.
On the otherhand, due to non-construction of the road portion at that place, garbage and mud have accumulated in the pot-holes, which has made the road more accident-prone. Again, the road construction company has constructed the new bypass road section at least three fect higher than the earlier one, so the intersection point of the road has become like a staircase, which is very hazardous for both two and three-wheeler vehicles. Now the local people here have demanded the road construction company to fillup the pot-holes and to smoothen the edges of the road so that no accident occurs during the pre-monsoon days.
A number road accidents took place during the last three years where three persons of a family in the area expired in a tragic road accident at that place during the festive mood of Rongali Bihu.
