BONGAIGAON, Aug 4 The Koch-Rajbongshi organisations have intensified their agitation for a separate Kamatapur after declaration of formation of Telangana state, with bandh call and fast in lower Assam districts including Bongaigaon.

The Biswajit Roy faction of AKRSU staged 100-hour fast from 3 pm this afternoon at Bhakaribhita beside their headoffice. Members of Chilarai Sena, AKRSU and All Koch-Rajbongshi Mahila Samiti (AKRMS) participated in the fast.

The picketers shouted slogans as We want Kamatapur, No Kamatapur no rest, Kamatpur is our legal demand before sitting on fast. AKRSU general secretary Pradip Roy and Purabi Sarkar, president of AKRMS, led the fast.

Pradip Roy warned that Assam would burn if the state and the union governments do not pay attention to the Kamatapur issue and if it remains unaddressed.
