HAFLONG, Aug 7 - The Dima Hasao District Congress committee while welcoming the Central Government�s decision for scrapping of Article 370 has appealed to all the leaders of both Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong to move the Centre for implementation of Article 244 (A), which envisages formation of an autonomous State.
Dima Hasao DCC president Nirmal Langthasa in a press meet held at Rajiv Bhawan on Tuesday said that as the BJP has a majority, it is the right time that all the MLAs and the MP from Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong should move the Centre for implementation of Article 244 (A), which is a long pending demand of the people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts.
Langthasa said people have given majority to the BJP, and, therefore it will be very easy to implement Article 244 (A).
The press meet was attended by Obasting Pachuan, Depolal Hojai and others, who unequivocally demanded implementation of Article 244 (A).
Addl Chief Engineer appointed: At last, the Dima Hasao Public Works Department has got a full-fledged Additional Chief Engineer following joining of Gautam Chandra Sarkar as the Additional Chief Engineer at Haflong.
Sarkar, who served in Cachar PWD circle joined here at Haflong on July 31 on promotion. Earlier, this post was held by officials as in-charge for a long time causing inconvenience.
Sarkar while talking to this correspondent appreciated the NC Hills Autonomous Council authorities. �I am really fortunate to serve here in Dima Hasao, a beautiful district of the state. Since the NCHAC authority has been giving priority for infrastructure development in the district, the PWD department has taken up a number of roads for construction, widening etc., throughout the district. It is really a matter of fact that development has taken a momentum here in Dima Hasao�.
