BONGAIGAON, April 14 - Local NGO �Samriddhi� on Wednesday sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner here after a signature campaign over major demands relating to the development of the district.
Senior scribe Hemanta Kumar Sarma inaugurated the campaign in front of Birjhora Mahavidyalaya�s main gate here and encouraged the NGO to take up such steps for the welfare of the people. Principal of the college, K Sarma was also present during the inauguration.
The campaign, which people of all sections supported, ended near Lower Assam Hospital.
Demands raised by the NGO in the memorandum are: setting up of a medical college, engineering college, fishery college, a university, railway coach factory, open stadium, construction of one more flyover and alternative routes of the town etc.
�We urge Sarbananda Sonowal to consider the development works of the district like other lower Assam districts,� Baishya said.
