Deepsikha Foundation annual day on Jan 20

By The Assam Tribune

GUWAHATI, Jan 16 - As in previous years Deepsikha Foundation proposes to observe its annual day Preetir Enajori, a concert for cancer care on January 20 at ITA Machkhowa at 6 p.m.

The concert for cancer care featuring noted singer Angarag Papon Mahanta along with his troupe, is being organised as a fund raising event for running the hospice for terminally ill cancer patients at Mirza.

Deepsikha, which has been working in the field of cancer care since 2004, has also announced the proposed commissioning of its Sishu Ashray Sthal which proposes to provide a home away from home along with a special school for economically challenged children afflicted with cancer at Six Mile here on February 11.

Vijay, the walk against tobacco and cancer is being organised on January 21 to generate awareness about the ill effects of tobacco. The walk will be from KC Das Commerce College to the Judges Field. A skit competition among school children on the abuse of tobacco will be held at the Judges Field.

Deepsikha is a non-profit voluntary organisation trying to add meaning to the lives of cancer patients through conjoined efforts. The plight of cancer patients and their families and the lack of awareness about the disease made the members of the organisation conduct awareness camps in the villages of the north-eastern states with a small band of musicians and health workers. The teams dedicated efforts blossomed into the organisation Deepsikha, which stands as a sentinel of hope for the cancer patients today.

The event is being actively supported by SBI Life Insurance, Narayana Super speciality Hospital, Ashoka Furnishings, electronic media partner News Live, Radio partner 93.5 Red Fm, outdoor partner outreach, hospitality partners Hotel Radisson Blu, Hotel Nakshatra, Skipper Hosiery etc.

Deepsikha seeks the active participation of all citizens to come forward and contribute towards a tobacco-free world and to further strengthen and gear up for the battle against cancer.
