By City Correspondent

GUWAHATI, May 30 - For the first time in its history, the Cotton University is going to introduce uniforms for its students.

The new rule will be applicable for students of HS first year from the next academic year, which will commence on August 1. The varsity authority will announce the type and colour of the uniform by next month.

Meanwhile, the University authority today withdrew the decision to discontinue the Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) course from the next academic year. The decision was taken following strong protests from the students.

The Cotton University AASU unit today staged a sit-in demonstration in the University campus. A statement from the AASU unit alleged that admission into the Masters in Computer Application (Lateral) course has also remained discontinued since last year.

An official source at the University, meanwhile, informed that as the institution got converted into a university, the emphasis has been more on postgraduate courses rather than undergraduate ones.

The source also informed that as a step towards developing the HS section, the administration would arrange special classes from the next academic session, involving veteran teachers of the State.
