JORHAT, Aug 30 � Death row convict Mahendra Nath Das, now an inmate of Jorhat Central Jail, is undergoing fast-unto-death seeking exemption from death sentence.
According to the Jailor of Jorhat Central Jail, Das started his fast on Tuesday. Last night, he was admitted to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital as his health condition deteriorated.
Das told media persons that he should be exempted from the capital punishment as he has already spent a long time in imprisonment.
