BISWANATH CHARIALI, Dec 21 - One Mangal Paik of Tezpur was awarded death penalty by the Additional District and Sessions Court, Biswanath on Monday on charges of rape and murder of a minor girl.
In 2018, Mangal Paik of Budhagaon village, Lokhara in Sonitpur district came as a guest to one family of Dekorai tea estate under Chatiya police station and there, a three-year-old girl was raped and killed by him.
The court sentenced Paik to death under sections of 364/376, (A)6 of POSCO Act and 302 and 201 of Indian Penal Code.
