DC takes stock of modern lab at city hospital

GUWAHATI, Jan 4 - Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro district Virendra Mittal visited Marwari Hospitals and took stock of the state-of-the-art blood bank with ID Nat laboratory facilities there.

With the ID Nat lab, Marwari Hospitals has been able to provide an additional safety layer to the blood units collected from the blood bank so that hundred per cent safe blood can be provided to the needy.

President of the hospital trust, Sarat Kumar Jain gave a brief presentation during the visit by the Deputy Commissioner on Monday on the 103-year journey of the Shree Marwari Databaya Aushadhalaya (SMDA) which was established in 1916.

�Ever since its inception, the SMDA through its various units, viz., Fancy Bazar Outdoor Dispensary, Bishnupur General OPD, the Mother & Child Block and the Multispecialty Block, all collectively known as Marwari Hospitals, have been providing yeoman service to the masses at affordable and or discounted costs and even totally free of cost to the poor and needy patients irrespective of their caste, creed or religious background,� a hospital spokesperson said.

Jain gave a brief account of the projects which are in the pipeline or under implementation. He also requested for support of the district administration to address the problem of traffic congestion on SJ Road in front of the hospital, which is causing inconvenience to patients.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the hospital and assured it of merit-based support.
