GUWAHATI, Aug 28 - Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Virendra Mittal today directed the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner and the Chief Executive Officer of the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to take strict action as per norms against Kamrup Warehouse located at Lokhra, where a person died on August 1 due to electrocution.

DC Mittal also directed the two officials to carry out an inquiry on other godowns located near Kamrup Warehouse and asked them to take action if required.

The godown, namely Kamrup Warehouse, has illegally constructed the third floor without taking any permission from GMDA and GMC where the owner has not maintained the approved distance of the building from the HT line due to which the person was electrocuted. Moreover, there are other godowns also, that are situated in that area where the HT line is passing very close to the building due to which such incidents may occur in the near future, a statement issued by the district administration said.
