Darrang emerges 2nd in Arts, Science streams

MANGALDAI, May 31 � After a dismal performance in the HSLC and High Madrassa final examination, the students of Darrang district have performed very well in all the three streams of this year�s HS final examination. The district emerged second in both Arts and Science among all the districts with an average success per cent of 88.44 and 94.97 respectively. The district held the fifth position in the Commerce stream with an overall pass percentage of 91.70.

Meanwhile, Bhobarnab Pratim Nath, a student of Brilliant Academy here, has brought glory to the district, as in Arts he secured the 8th position. Bhobarnob scored a total of 462 marks with letters (English-90, Alt English-94, Economics-90, Geography-93, Logic-95, Anthropology-87) in all the subjects. The younger son of BSNL employee, Roz Nath and PWD employee, Suborna Phukan of Krishna Nagar, Bhobarnob gave credit of his success to his parents, his elder brother Hirakjyoti along with the teachers and management of Brilliant Academy for his achievement.

While talking to this correspondent, Bhobarnob expressed his desire to become a college teacher in the future. He has a plan to join either the Cotton College or Tezpur Central University to carry on his degree career with major either in Economics or in English.

On the other hand, Sukanya Ghose, a resident of ward no 4 here has also made the people of Darrang district proud as she grabbed the third position in the Science stream. She appeared from Salt Brook Academy, Dibrugarh. She secured a total of 470 with letter marks in all six subjects. Sukanya who had her schooling career here in the North East Academy and missed a rank in the HSLC examination was almost certain to secure a position this time. Interacting with this correspondent she attributed her success to her mother Rakhee Ghose, a teacher, father Omprakash Ghose, an engineer in the State Irrigation Department along with the faculty of Salt Brook Academy. In response to a question about her future goals, she said , �Since my childhood, I wanted to become a doctor as I had to regularly undertake a visit to the doctor due to my weak health. I want to become an oncologist , so that I can serve cancer patients.�
