MANGALDAI, Dec 30 - The 12-hour dawn-to-dusk Darrang bandh called today by the Prabrajan Birodhi Aikya Mancha, Asom and few other local organisations in protest against the attack on indigenous people at Hetou Chapori near here on Monday passed off peacefully.
The bandh was total in every part of the district with business establishments and financial institutions remaining closed. Vehicular traffic was almost off the NH-15 and other major roads. The government offices were open, but attendance was poor.
Meanwhile, the police in connection with the Hetou Chapori incident has registered another case on the basis of an FIR lodged by Maziran Nessa, Mazida Khatun and Mahima Begum and has arrested Ramen Bora, president of the Mahabahu Krishi Samabai Samiti and Priyanath Nath, the complainant of the previous case.
