Dance workshop to empower women in Manipur

IMPHAL, June 17 � A group of seven young female contemporary dancers accompanied by two film makers from across the world are camping here to conduct a free dance workshop to support and empower women and promote gender equality through their artistic and performatic expressions.

With their project called �2nd Home-India�, the seven girls, including dancers, choreographers and song writers from Israel, United States, Canada, Denmark and Poland will be conducting a free dance workshop at Lee Faith Home School, a centre for children at Sangaiprou and Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen here till June 20.

The troupe which was set up through the social network Facebook will conduct dance workshops on gaga, contemporary, contact improvisation and also interact with other experts in various art forms in the State. The project �2nd Home-India� has already been launched at Challan, a remote village in Himachal Pradesh in April this year. �We are here to explore the new world of traditional art forms in Manipur�, said 26 year-old choreographer and dance teacher Shaked Dagan from Israel, who had visited India for the fourth time.
