The anti-dam activists led by All Assam Students Union (AASU) and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) have launched the blockade in Assam against the Lower Subansiri Hydro Electric Project protesting construction of the big dam which they claimed would badly affect the people living in the downstream of the river.

The trucks carrying essential items and fuel tankers meant for East Siang, West Siang and Upper Siang districts will be allowed to move from today, KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said.

Gogoi gave this assurance to the students delegation while responding to the request made by the latter for lifting the blockade at Lakhimpur last evening, said All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) spokesperson Tobom Dai, who led the students delegation to meet the activists. PTI
